At the beginning of the process, the director and I talked about doing what the playwright asked, and then adding to it. This show had prevalent ambiance for the 3 locations that it took place in, the cave, a parking lot, and inside one of the character’s houses while it was raining. Responsibilities included the programming of the Qlab file, making a speaker plot, leading the calls for hang and focus, and recording the cast when needed.

These are samples of the main background sound for each location. In the space, the cave ambiance would have the wind coming from behind and the drips coming from above to make it have a bit more depth. The parking lot ambiance has, as the playwright wrote, sounds of both the cars and the ocean, it has the sound of crickets that came from behind to help with the location of the parking lot. The time stops sample is what would happen when in the script it says “time stops”. I adjusted the time of the lower pitch sound for each moment. The rain sample was the simplest out of them and was the sound of rain while we were in Danielle’s house.
